About Us
Who are we?
GreenLayer is a passionate charity organization based in Neervely, Jaffna, Northern Sri Lanka. Established in 2020, our mission is to restore and protect the natural environment that was severely affected during the civil war.
For decades, many parts of Northern Sri Lanka experienced environmental damage, loss of greenery, and disruption of ecosystems. GreenLayer was created with the vision of bringing life back to the land by promoting sustainable environmental practices and rebuilding the region’s natural beauty.
Our organization focuses on tree planting initiatives, environmental awareness programs, and community engagement activities that encourage people to take responsibility for protecting nature. By working closely with local communities, volunteers, and supporters, we aim to rebuild a greener and healthier environment for future generations.
At GreenLayer, we believe that every tree planted and every effort made today will create a sustainable tomorrow. Through dedication, collaboration, and compassion for nature, we continue to work toward restoring the greenery and ecological balance of Northern Sri Lanka.
Our Aim
To plant all types of trees to protect the soil, provide natural shade, restore fruit trees, attract birds and bees and correct ecological imbalance.
Our Goal
Originally 10,000 trees. Achieved 45,000 trees in December 2023. Now aiming planting 100,000 trees by the end of 2025.

To expand continuously and create a greener future for generations.
our work
Our work is carried out by a small but dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about restoring and protecting the natural environment. Although our team is small, we work with strong commitment to bring back greenery and support a healthier ecosystem.
We grow some of our tree saplings in our own farms and also purchase additional plants from trusted local nurseries. This helps us ensure that healthy and suitable trees are planted in different locations.
Our activities are made possible entirely through donations from kind-hearted supporters. Many of these contributions come from people living locally as well as members of the Sri Lankan diaspora around the world who wish to support environmental restoration in their homeland.
To carry out our projects effectively, we also employ paid workers to help transport and plant the trees. Together with our volunteers and supporters, we continue working to create a greener and more sustainable future.

Many people are requesting us to plant trees on their Birthdays, Anniversaries, to remember their family members and many other occasions. If you also want to do this, please do contact us. We also welcome new ideas in this matter.
